I had the great honor of introducing Darren Bondy Mr SF Leather 2011 at the 2012 Mr SF Leather contest for his step-down. I would like as many people as possible to know what a great job he did during his title year, so here is my introduction.
***
Over the past year it has been my distinct pleasure to work closely with Darren Bondy — Mr San Francisco Leather 2011.
Darren Bondy is everything a title holder should be.
He coordinated 12 successful Black Saturday events at his home bar, the Powerhouse– which raised over $12,000 for the Leather Alliance, the Bare Chest Calendar, CARAS, the Tom of Finland Foundation, and the Leather Archives and Museum. He judged four contests. He sponsored Balls to the Walls (a Leather softball game) and the Anniversary of Leathermen’s Discussion Group. All of this, and he had an wonderfully successful run for International Mr. Leather– finishing 8th out of more than 50 men who competed for the title.
But he didn’t stop there. Darren reached out to the leaders of Leathermen’s Discussion Group for assistance in creating a series of workshops entitled Making the Connection. He brought a high level of sexy, educational content to San Francisco. However, these workshops did not just benefit local people, by inviting me to cover them for Leatherati, Darren ensured that people across the Nation were able to learn from them as well. Further, by asking David Schachter to video tape the sessions he made sure they would be preserved at the Leather Archives and Museum for the generations that follow us. This, my friends, is a legacy.
To those men who are running for the title tonight or to those of you who endeavor to be leaders in our community by any means… take heed and learn from his example. Darren is a true community organizer who understand the value of working with those around him to further his mission.
Now, with all of his accomplishments, I certainly don’t want to overshadow the fact that Darren is REALLY FUCKING HOT!
Please, come join me Darren, and let us see you one last time on stage as the current Mr. San Francisco Leather!
